“Manhã de Carnaval” is a song composed by Brazilian composer Luiz Bonfá with the lyrics by Antônio Maria. This piece got very famous mainly after appearing as principal theme in the 1959 Portuguese-language film Orfeu Negro by French director Marcel Camus, no wonder it became one of the first Bossa Nova compositions to gain popularity outside Brazil and has become a jazz standard in the U.S.

This arrangement was initially written for cello quartet in 2015 and rearranged for string quartet in 2020.
